What would you do if you were given dedicated time out of your work or school schedule to focus on something you cared about deeply? Would you finally turn that story idea that’s been floating around in your head into a novel? Transform your unique tech concept into a reality? Or even try your hand at learning a new instrument? This is exactly what our Grade 8 teachers wanted to find out with their students.
Introducing Passion Projects 2.0. For six weeks this spring, Grade 8 students got the chance every day to focus on a project of their choosing, with the motivation to work on it stemming from their own interest instead of an external target like a grade. The Passion Projects 2.0 Exhibition Day took place at the end of the six weeks, where students could proudly display the hard work they put into bringing their passion to life.
And why 2.0? Because last year Passion Projects 1.0 debuted but never fully came to fruition because, well, we all know what happened last spring. SAS’s goal of instilling a lifelong passion for learning doesn’t just apply to our students, as our teachers wanted to learn from this experience to improve upon future iterations of Passion Projects.
